Descrizione prodotto

The Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat represents one of the most iconic carrier-based fighters of the U.S. Navy during World War II. Protagonist of Pacific air battles, including the historic Battle of Midway in June 1942, the Wildcat distinguished itself for robustness and reliability against the formidable Japanese Zero.

The Academy 12355 kit in 1:48 scale with completely new tooling offers highest quality details: richly detailed cockpit, finely engraved paneling, functional retractable landing gear and decals for various Battle of Midway operational versions. Perfect for intermediate and advanced modelers.

The Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat was the standard carrier-based fighter of the U.S. Navy in the early phases of the Pacific war. Although technically inferior to the Mitsubishi A6M Zero in speed and maneuverability, the Wildcat compensated with extremely robust construction, superior firepower and innovative tactics like the "Thach Weave".

The Battle of Midway (June 4-7, 1942):

During this decisive battle, Wildcats operated from carriers USS Enterprise, Yorktown and Hornet, contributing to the destruction of four Japanese carriers and reversing the balance of power in the Pacific war. The F4F-4 version mounted six .50 caliber machine guns and folding wings to optimize onboard storage.

Academy 12355 kit features (NEW TOOLING):

This latest generation kit features completely renewed molds with superfine details. Includes highly detailed cockpit with readable instrumentation, precision-engraved paneling, retractable landing gear with accurate details, optional folding wings and decals for multiple Battle of Midway configurations. Intermediate difficulty level, ideal for both display and advanced weathering techniques.

Note: glue and paints not included in the kit.
